News from Latin America - March 2026

Our latest news from Latin America.

Estancia Cerro Guido, one of our favourite properties just outside the Torres del Paine National Park, now remains open throughout the winter season. Visiting during the quieter months allows a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the serene beauty of Patagonia without the summer crowds. Although the days are shorter, wildlife is abundant and the snowy landscape makes for some spectacular photography opportunities.

They also have a sister property, Casona Matetic, in the Rosario wine valley near Santiago. The two properties make for a nice combination, with special offers available if combining the two through the winter season. Cerro Guido also has a new guest house with 5 rooms, perfect for groups of friends or families.

"Wow! We loved every bit of the area and the journey there. We were lucky with perfect weather for the first couple of days. On the last day it rained in the morning when we were supposed to go riding but we chilled out instead (which we were happy about) and in the afternoon we had an estancia tour which was very interesting" - JB (March 2023)

"The surprise of the trip and what an inspired choice. We loved it, great nature, great food and service and grounds. They gave us a beautiful elegant room near the pool with its own terraces and views of the vineyards. It was peaceful and restful. We said we are going to stay again, and we mean it" - CP&AR (February 2024)

In the Galapagos Islands last month, 158 Floreana giant tortoises were reintroduced to their native island, marking their return after a 180 year absence and following decades of work to rid the island of invasive species.

"We had an incredible time in Ecuador, the Galapagos and Peru and I wanted to drop you a note to say thank you and fill you in on the highlights. We have returned loaded with photographs and memories and are beginning to think about returning at some stage. None of this could have happened without your hard work on our behalf and we thank you so much for all your help and advice" - J&JP (February 2025)

"I wanted to say a huge thank you for having worked so hard to organise such a wonderful holiday for us. We really had a fabulous time - totally fell in love with the country and the route you sent us on worked so well. Amongst the highlights were the internal flights - such fun and saved another long journey in the car, driving - super fun to be under our own steam and allowed us to spill out of our bags too which is always good when travelling with kids! and finally, our concierge who was such a help and just kept touching base with us at all the right moments" - LE (December 2025)
