Location

near San Ignacio (The Highlands, Belize)

Description

This family-run lodge is a 35 minute drive south of San Ignacio in a private 100 acre rainforest reserve next to the Macal river. There is an orange grove and small farm and they have pet donkeys and laying hens.

Activities

There are many self-guided hiking trails and you can swim, tube and canoe in the river. They also have mountain bikes free for guest use. Guided tours of the farm and gardens are available and guests can feed the donkeys and pick their own fruit. The lodge also offer guided excurions to the area's near-by attractions.

Accommodation

The 7 palm-thatched cabañas are spread throughout the reserve and vary in size with the best offering stunning views of the river below. The rooms are rustic with ceiling fans and terraces and some are interconnecting, perfect for families. The restuarant serves an ever-changing, seasonal menu of fresh, Belizan cuisine with fruit and vegetables grown in their organic garden.
