Lizzy took advantage of being in Buenos Aires to travel to the Esteros del Iberá, the second largest wetland area in the world. Although it requires a little extra effort to reach, the rewards are exceptional: outstanding birdlife, an abundance of wildlife, and the region can be combined with a visit to the spectacular Iguazu Falls. The area of northern Peru around Chachapoyas remains one of the country’s most overlooked regions, yet it offers dramatic scenery, high Andean peaks, and remarkable pre-Inca sites including the impressive Kuélap fortress. Phil had the chance to explore this special part of Peru while attending a trade show last year, and came away inspired by its history and landscapes.
