Casa de Sierra Nevada
Location
San Miguel de Allende (The Colonial Heartlands, Mexico)
Description
The most luxurious option in the city and owned by Belmond (formerly Orient-Express). Spread over nine colonial properties, each with individual character and all within walking distance of each other. Just two blocks from the central plaza and cathedral, it is ideal for exploring town on foot. There is an outdoor pool, library, two restaurants and a spa. Friendly yet professional with good food and an acclaimed cookery school.
Activities
There are some excellent restaurants in San Miguel and a walk around the local market is very interesting. The hotel cooking school is called Sazón and it offers demonstrations, individual lessons or short courses
Accommodation
Beautiful rooms with lovely features, decorated with artwork by local artists with some rooms adorned with hand painted borders. Most rooms have double beds, rather than twin.
Our comments
The rooms in Casa Limon are lovely and in the same building as the swimming pool. Some of the one bedroom suites on upper levels have a private terrace offering excellent views over the city.
Client comments and reviews
Our stay in San Miguel de Allende was spectacular and the Sierra Nevada was perfect. The antique decoration in the room was delightful and I loved the copper bath (just what was needed after a long day pottering about town). The staff were great and extremely helpful with restaurant suggestions after we did the cooking lesson at Sazón, now to get practicing at home! - OF (July 2014)
