Description

Mayakoba is a 600 acre reserve, and the Rosewood is a stylish, luxury resort hotel within this protected area, which has many mangroves, lagoons and waterways. The main section of the hotel is about a mile from the beach with the main restaurant, a pool and other facilities including a kids club, games room, Taquilla bar and games room. The Spa and gym are on an island with a separate pool and there is also a lovely pool by the beach and excellent beachfront restaurant. Golf buggies continually run around the property transferring guests through the Mangrove corridor from the rooms to the beach. Staff are friendly and helpful and the food is excellent.

Activities

Beach activities, relax, visit nearby ruins including Tulum and Coba. There is also an 18 golf course within the reserve, El Camaleon, designed by Greg Norman, and the hotel offers a golf package.

Accommodation

The 128 rooms are spread throughout the grounds and around the lagoons, the majority being near the reception and main restaurant, a mile from the beach. There are 8 different categories, all spacious, modern, very stylish, equipped with all the latest technology and have much attention to detail plus a private butler available 24 hours. The Lagoon suites, being the lowest category of room, have a spacious bedroom, private terrace with a plunge pool and also a roof terrace with day bed, the bathrooms have a Jacuzzi bath and an indoor and outdoor shower. Higher category rooms also have a separate sitting room and the Beach front rooms, though slightly smaller, have the prime location on the beach.

Our comments

The hotel does feel a bit split with the Mangrove corridor between the beach and the main hotel but otherwise very nice, if you are looking for a resort style hotel.
