About us
Michael joined the travel industry in 2000, starting out selling round-the-world flights before moving into the world of tailor-made travel. After first visiting Latin America in 2003, a passion for the region was ignited and several return trips followed, including taking Spanish lessons in Guatemala, joining carnival celebrations in Bolivia and an exhausting few days on the Inca trail. Michael now enjoys sharing his Latin American experiences and trying to instil the travel bug into his young family.
Most memorable moment
Hiking to the Mirador Torres del Paine viewpoint for sunrise was an unforgettable experience. But meeting the local people is probably the best part of travelling in Latin America, and a particular highlight for me was spending time with a local family in the cloud forests of Guatemala above Coban.
Top tip
Learn the lingo, a smattering of Spanish and/or Portuguese can get you a long way with the locals!
Next 'must see'
As a coffee addict, Colombia is very high on my list as this is a country I haven’t visited (yet). I would also love to explore more of Brazil, although my Spanish is definitely much better than my Portugese!
