Day 1: On arrival at Mount Pleasant airport you will be met and driven to Darwin for an overnight stay, stopping en-route at battlefield sites, including the Argentine cemetery.
Days 2-3: Board a small 10-seater FIGAS (Falkland Island Government Air Service) flight to Carcass Island, West Falkland, where you stay two nights. This island is beautiful, with a high ridge and many other areas to explore. You will visit a Gentoo penguin colony, see elephant seals, and do a full day's boat excursion across to West Point Island to see black-browed albatrosses. You may even see dolphins and whales from the boat.
Sea Lion Island
Days 4-5: Board another short flight to East Falkland and small Sea Lion Island for a two night stay. There are rockhopper, Gentoo and Magellanic penguin colonies, inland lakes, elephant seals and sea lions. Orcas are also often spotted offshore.
Days 6-7: Take the short flight to Stanley where you will spend your final two nights. Stanley is a small town, easily explored on foot and has an interesting museum. A full day excursion out to Volunteer Point, the worlds most accessible king penguin colony, is an unforgettable experience.
The Falklands is nearly always combined with Chile. Flights with LAN to Mount Pleasant from Santiago (via Punta Arenas) operate once a week. The MoD also operates twice weekly flights from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.
Includes all breakfasts, dinner in Darwin and full board on Carcass and Sea Lion Islands.
Prices include the hopper flights between islands, but not international flights (which, from the UK, can either be via Chile or Ascension Island).
