Casa Pueblo

Location

Punta Ballena (Punta del Este, Uruguay)

Description

A unique, white, Mediterranean looking building, built into the cliff on the coast around 13km from Punta del Este. It is the house of Carlos Páez Vilaró, a famous artist whose son survived the Uruguayan Andes plane crash in 1972. It has some very interesting features. Lovely pools and restaurant, both overlooking the ocean and excellent food. The studio of Carlos is next door and there is a shop too.

Accommodation

Most accommodation is small appartments (70 in total) accommodating 2,4 or 6 people, with a kitchenette and balcony overlooking the ocean. There are 12 rooms, all with private facilities and a balcony.

Our comments

Would recommend hiring a car. Worth a visit even if not staying overnight.
