Ponta dos Ganchos (Florianopolis and the southern coasts, Brazil)

Description

A 40 minute (40km) drive north of Florianópolis, Ponta dos Ganchos is a luxurious resort with a small private beach on a peninsula. There is a heated indoor pool, cinema, fitness centre, games room, and excellent restaurant. No children allowed.

Activities

They have a tennis court, and some sailing dinghies. There is a dive site about 30 minutes' boat ride away. The resort's small island can be used for private dinners.

Accommodation

Very spacious rooms on the hilltop: standard (luxo) rooms are usually split level, higher categories add a sauna and jacuzzi on the veranda. Villa bungalows have even more space and private plunge pools.

Our comments

Probably the best resort-style property in southern Brazil. Perfect for honeymoons!

Open QuoteAnother incredible place! I usually hate beach resorts yet I really enjoyed our time here and liked the way that it is a very private resort. The rooms were enormous and the service was a step above other hotels I have been to before – I think this was exaggerated by the fact it wasn’t very busy. The food in the restuarants was all the best of the trip and the whole resort was beautiful. Our room (a villa) was outrageously big but given the beach is so nice it would be fine in the smaller rooms, particularly outside peak season.Close Quote - CT (April 2013)
